Rembrandt and the portrait in Amsterdam, 1590-1670
The Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum presents from February 18 until May 24, 2020 ‘Rembrandt and the portrait in Amsterdam, 1590-1670’, an exhibition tribute to Rembrandt in its facet of portraitist, genre in which the most important Dutch painter of the seventeenth century has also reached the highest level.
The exhibition consists of almost a hundred paintings and engravings from museums and collections around the world in which we can admire Rembrandt’s exceptional works as well as outstanding examples of other active artists in Amsterdam during the so-called Dutch golden century.
As a result of our collaboration with the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum and its design team, Barceloning has produced two cushion covers inspired by works from this exhibition; specifically two works by Nicolaes Eliasz. Pickenoy, both of 1635: Portrait of a man and Portrait of a woman
