Sant Pau mosaic
Lampshade to mount as a candle holder using a glass of wine as a base.
Design inspired by the central mosaic at the auditorium of the administrative building of the Santa Creu i Sant Pau Hospital. Exclusively sold at the Museum Shop of the Modernista Site.
The magnificent architectural ensemble of the former hospital’s auditorium, with its unique ornamental and spatial richness, reflects the characteristics of Catalan modernista architecture in vogue at the time of its construction, at the beginning of the 20th century. The central mosaic is of a great chromatic richness with motifs emulating peacock feathers.
The Modernista Site of the Santa Creu i Sant Pau Hospital consists of a set of buildings designed by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, one of the main representatives of Catalan modernism. The most of façades are made of exposed brickwork with profusion of ceramic finishes, forge, stone, moldings, mosaics, sculptures, etc. in a sorrounding of gardens to create a harmonious and unique environment. With the construction and transfer between 2003 and 2009 of the new Hospital, the former modernista site is vacated. After a few years of restoration it has been opened to public to become a new tourist attraction for the city of Barcelona.
